Exciting news for the Southeast Greenway after Kilkenny County Council signed contracts with Glas Civil Engineering after a tendering process.
It is hope that works will commence on the coming weeks. Glas Civil Engineering will begin works on 2 parts of the project. Glas Engineering will commence works on the New Ross and Ferrybank ends of the Greenway.
The Southeast Greenway is a joint venture between 3 county councils. Wexford, Kilkenny and Waterford county council have come together for the project, the new greenway will connect New Ross, Co Wexford with Ferrybank in Waterford City. A long term aim is to directly link the Southeast Greenway to the Waterford Greenway Once the two greenways are linked, cyclists will be able to travel over 70km from New Ross to Dungarvan with minimum interaction with traffic.
It is the aim of the councils to have the new greenway open in early 2023. Local business are eagerly awaiting to read the economic benefits of the new greenway.
