Even more improvements coming to the Suir Blueway

Kilkenny County Council is  invitating  members of the public to participate in the selection of a preferred route corridor for the essential South to North Access Roa of the South East Greenway

In their ongoing effort to improve connectivity and accessibility, the council has developed six distinct route corridor options, all aimed at seamlessly connecting Abbey Road to Belmont Road. The selcted route will be important to the South East Greenway as it will most likely form a future access point and car park for the greenway

The Suir Blueway in Tipperary, could become even better if the county council is successful with its application for funding available from the Outdoor Recreation Improvement Grant available from the Department of Community & Rural Development. If they are successful in their application, then it will be used to widen a further 1km of the waterway after successfully upgrading the section from from Sean Healy Park in Carrick to the Fisherman’s Boreen.

The improvement works will involve widening the track and laying new tarmac to give cyclists and walkers a better experience and to improve capacity as the local amenity grows in popularity.

The new section to be upgraded will cover the stretch from Miloko factory upstream to the Fishermen’s Hut.
