Enabling works commence to link The Waterford Greenway to the future Southeast Greenway

Work is ready to start on the enabling works contract  for the future South Plaza in Waterford City. Waterford City Council have signed a contract with Suir Plant Ltd and O’Donovan Consulting Engineers to perform diversion works and investigative works prior to the main contract been awarded.

The new South Plaza will be centred around the Clock Tower in the city and will act as focal point for cyclist to visit Waterford City who wish to cycle either the Waterford Greenway or the future Southeast Greenway.

Works are already underway to upgrade the greenway from Bilberry Carpark into the city. The South Plaza will also facilitate the crossing of the River Suir via the New Sustainable Transport Bridge that will connect  the South Quays to the North Quays Strategic Development Zone.

Once these pieces of infrasture are complete, cyclists will be able to cycle from New Ross in Co Wexford to Dungarvan in Co. Waterford.
