About
Tipperary’s greenway network is still in its early stages, with the Suir Blueway being the only active cycle path. This scenic 21km route follows the River Suir between Clonmel and Carrick-on-Suir. While it doesn’t meet all the criteria for greenway it is probably one of Irelands best off road cycle paths, there are ambitious plans to expand the county’s greenway offerings. A potential extension could connect the Suir Blueway from Carrick-on-Suir to the popular Waterford Greenway, creating a seamless link for long-distance cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts.
Other greenway projects in Tipperary remain at the planning or development stage, with no certainty on when or if they will be completed. Proposed routes include the Dromineer to Ballina Greenway, the Nenagh Urban Greenway, and a path linking Cashel to Cahir. These projects, if realized, could significantly enhance cycling and walking infrastructure in the county. Stay tuned to our news section for the latest updates on these developments and potential funding progress.
