Public Consultation Opens for Rosslare Strand to Rosslare Harbour Greenway

Wexford County Council has launched a public consultation on the Preferred Route Corridor for the proposed Rosslare Strand to Rosslare Harbour Greenway, and people are now being encouraged to have their say on the project.

The consultation officially runs from 4th March to 1st April 2026, giving residents, visitors, businesses, and greenway users the opportunity to review the proposed route and submit feedback before the design moves to the next stage.

The proposed greenway would create a new walking and cycling route linking Rosslare Strand Train Station with Rosslare Harbour, forming an important recreational and tourism corridor along the southeast coast.

A New Greenway for South East Wexford

The project is being developed by Wexford County Council in line with national greenway development guidelines and forms part of a broader vision to create an integrated network of greenways and blueways across the South East region.

According to the consultation documents, the greenway is intended to serve several purposes:

  • A recreational amenity for locals and visitors
  • A safe walking and cycling route between Rosslare Strand and Rosslare Harbour
  • A sustainable commuter corridor
  • A tourism project aimed at attracting both domestic and international visitors

The route would begin at Rosslare Strand Train Station and extend in a south-easterly direction towards Rosslare Harbour, finishing near the junction of Mary’s Terrace and the N25.

If delivered, the greenway would strengthen outdoor tourism in the area while also encouraging more everyday walking and cycling in a safe and controlled environment.

Public Consultation Now Open

At this stage of the project, Wexford County Council is presenting the Preferred Route Corridor and is seeking feedback from the public before moving forward with the detailed design.

Feedback gathered during the consultation will help inform the development of the Preferred Option Design and guide the project through the next stages of planning and environmental evaluation.

The consultation includes:

  • The public consultation brochure
  • A map showing the Preferred Route Corridor
  • An online feedback form

These materials provide an overview of the project and allow members of the public to review the proposed route before submitting their comments.

Information Event in Rosslare Strand

As part of the consultation process, Wexford County Council will also host a public information event where members of the project team will be available to answer questions.
